As South America’s largest economy and home to the world’s largest carbon sink – the Amazon Rainforest – Brazil has a unique and critical role in the global climate fight. Opened in 2014, The Climate Reality Project Brazil has quickly become a key partner in this fight, working with local government’s to help slash emissions and drive progress in states and communities across the country. In addition to its policy work, the branch strives to build broad awareness of how climate change affects Brazil. The branch develops nonpartisan educational trainings for government representatives, helping leaders from a diverse array of political parties understand the issue and incorporate pro-environmental agendas into their work. The branch is also organizing dialogue circles as a tool to increase climate literacy among youth and impacted communities, and working with Climate Reality Leaders to spread a message of hope and solutions across Brazil.
